More Cowbell
I love sitting in the front of the sanctuary on Sunday mornings with my girls from youth. I enjoy fellowshiping with my girls but most of all, I like being closer to the praise and worship. I am more impacted by the praise and worship when I am closer. It may be that I maintain focus better than when I was on the balcony... But I really really enjoy sitting in the front!
However, yesterday morning I almost lost it. I was thoroughly enjoying praising the Lord with the praise band when they played a wonderful song that included a cowbell... This probably did not phase most people, but having seen the SNL skit below so many times that I practically have it memorized... I could not focus on the music. I spent the majority of the song laughing and waiting for the dude playing the cowbell to start dancing around on the stage... I assure you he did not move one step... But my spirit of worship was hindered during the song. I did manage to grow up for the rest of the set, but man... they need to warn me when they bring out the cowbell... I am clearly not mature enough to handle it!

yeah, i think after that skit it would be almost impossible to not let your mind drift off when someone "plays" a cowbell during worship!
When we were at the rodeo on Friday I was asking a kid with us if he was playing the xylophone. He replied, "No, the cowbell." Of course you're playing the cowbell. That's the next thing I would have guessed.
