Merry Christmas

This year Christmas snuck up on me and then karate chopped me. I was not prepared at all.  I was buying presents the week of Christmas, writing Christmas cards moments before I saw the card’s recipients, and as always I felt like it was go…go…go.  I hate that feeling.  That being said, I got to see both my dad’s and my mom’s side of the family.  I go to have dinner and play Mexican Train with my immediate family.  And thankfully, I did get a few moments to rest here and there and I even some time celebrating the birth of my Savior.

Resolutions...

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas!  I did during my annual tour of Texas.  I am back in Dallas and hope to post a re-cap soon.

I am a little under the weather today.  I am self medicating with soup, OJ, and cough syrup.  Hopefully that will knock it out soon.

Being sick and the only person in the office is not a good combination.  I cannot seem to get much done today.

I am not sure what my new years resolutions are going to be, but I quit my gym and joined netflix today.  So it seems my priorities are in order.  ;)

Week 7: Culinary Concoctions

With the Christmas festivities in full swing, cooking has become a little difficult.  However, I did manage to make Snicker-doodle and chocolate chip break and bake cookies, I learned to temper chocolate and made Peppermint Bark and Toffee. A special thanks to my amazing roommate Sarah for stirring the toffee for me while I ran around the kitchen doing a million things.  I was so nervous that the toffee wasn't going to turn out.  It was an intermediate recipe after all... but I was pleasantly surprised with the results.

Lastly, I made macaroni and cheese for dinner on the only night I was home this week. Not so challenging on the food front, but I hope making candy for the first time gets me a pass this week.

Week 6: Culinary Concoctions

This week was rather anticlimactic in the cooking department.  I made Orange Sweet Rolls and Zatarain’s Jambalaya with sausage.  Both from a box/can.  Not my finest cooking week, but I ate in none the less.

Thursday Thoughts

I am loving the holiday season! Though I have not bought a single Christmas present and have no idea what I am going to get anyone...  I am finding myself in the holiday spirit.  I have been listening to Christmas music non-stop at work and in my car and it makes me so very happy.

I was challenged by my roommate Sarah's post today and I have decided to Rediscover the Christmas Season as well. I sadly find it very easy to take my focus off the Reason for the season.

I have been finding it hard to get up in the mornings.  I bought Tocky online last night.   I think I am going to record my mom's voice onto it.  I always got up pretty well when she was waking me up. Hopefully Tocky will help me get up in the mornings. I will let you know.

My brother told me about this website called Woot a few months ago.  They normally sell one thing a day and when they sell out of it, that is it.  Well once a month they have something called a Woot Off where they sell a limited number of an item and then move onto another item.  There is a Woot Off going on now and I find it ridiculously addictive.  I have not bought anything, but I keep hitting refresh on my computer to see the next item...  I can't stop.  It is not good for my productivity.

I have been eating clementines this week.  So yummy.

I got my Christmas bonus a little early this year and used part of it to finish paying off my first year of law school.  I am more than a little excited.  I still have two years of law school, my study abroad program, and part of undergrad to pay off, but it feels great to be part of the way done!

I cannot believe A&M is going to the Cotton Bowl!  I am so proud of you Aggs! Anyone want to go with me to the game?!
