Egg on my face

I went to lake Bob Sandlin this weekend for Watermark's Youth Leaders Retreat. I enjoyed meeting some of the women I will be leading with for the next few years. There were several women around my age that I really connected with and am excited to get to know better. Praise the Lord for new friends!

We had a few break out sessions and some time for fun. I went tubing for the first time ever and had a blast! I have tube burn on both of my elbows, but I managed to stay on the tube (for the most part)... which is what matters.

Wake began this Sunday (Wake is the name of the Junior High Ministry at Watermark) and the ministry continues to blow me away. The leadership is so creative and really makes Sunday mornings fun for the kids. It is Christ centered, and yet the kids actually want to be there and want to bring their (non-believing) friends, which is HUGE. I met about 10 girls going into 6th grade and am looking forward to getting to know more of them in the weeks to come. They are so tiny and quite, not like the 9th and 10th graders I am used to, but equally precious. I can't wait to see who is going to be in my group!

One of the skits on Sunday involved twelve of the new leaders (me included) going on stage with plastic bags around our bodies. Twelve new 6th graders came up and cracked 11 hard boiled and 1 non-boiled eggs on our heads. The kid with the "real egg" won a prize. Luckily my sweet girl Sydney had a hard boiled egg. She still managed to jam some yoke into my hair, but that was nothing compared to the poor WOMAN (they so should have planned it so a guy got the juicy egg) that got a full egg in her hair. The girl really rubbed the egg in too. Hopefully egg is good for hair... builds body or shine perhaps?!? Even if not, the leader was a great sport about it, which is good because I fear this will not be the last time we will be participating in some crazy skit that gets a little dirty/messy.

As far as my thoughts on Watermark Youth so far, I am thrilled to be a part of this amazing ministry, egg and all! :P

Egg does help hair, or at least I think it does. I haven't used it on mine.

I taught sixth graders for a few years. Trust me, they seem quiet at first, but soon the drama of sixth grade will erupt. I am so glad you are working with that age group because they really need someone like you to look up to.

Recently I read somewhere that back before shampoo, women used to wash their hair with eggs.
