Roommate Reunion
This weekend I went to Austin and met up with my roommates from college. It was so much fun!!! I was blessed to live with SEVEN other women my last two years of college and for the most part we only see each other at weddings these days... So it was really nice to get together for an extended period of time where no one was tying the knot. :)
We stayed at the Renaissance Austin Hotel and I highly recommend it to anyone! The room was big and quite nice... The only problem we seemed to run into was the electricity was not wired as well as one would hope... We blew a fuse... twice... We ended up having to dry our hair one at a time because that was all the wiring would allow... When there are 6 women getting ready in one room, this is anything but optimal... It worked out okay in the end, and it was quite fun to call the front desk the second time we blew the fuse and ask them to fix it for us... again... :)We went to 6th Street on Friday night after dinner at the Hula Hut. Sixth Street is very interesting. I never quite get prepared for the homeless people asking for money and the bouncers offering to buy us drinks if we go into their clubs... It is all a little overwhelming to me... But I had a blast none the less... :) We started off our 6th street festivities with S'mores at Halcyon and they were quite tasty! We then went to Pete's Dueling Piano Bar and remained there for most of the evening. Afterwards we made the trek back to the car and again money was asked for and drinks were offered...

Then on Saturday we went to the Capital and went shopping on the strand. We went to dinner at Baby A's and it was just about the best food I have ever tasted! I give it a huge thumbs up and you should go if you are ever in Austin!!! We then drove back by 6th street because Laura had not seen it the night before. I have to say I enjoyed 6th more from the car. Though this is because of the wonderful, hysterical and memorable conversation that took place. :) I will not go into specifics, but I tell you the memories will last a lifetime!!! We finished up the evening by going to Mozart's and having some coffee. I, of course, had tea instead. On Sunday we went to brunch at Moonshine. It was also quite enjoyable and you should try it when in Austin! After brunch, Abby and I headed back to H-town. It was such an enjoyable weekend though and I was glad to get some time with my past roomies.
I am sorry for all the links in my blog today but I figure the best way to show you the restaurants we were at is to give you the links... I am a food fanatic and I am more than happy to share the food wealth with my reading public. :)
